Nurmay Missions Foundation is located in Gotani, Kenya, a settlement in Kenya’s Coast Province, roughly 50 kilometers inland from the port city of Mombasa. Nurmay exists with a single goal: to ignite in every Christian a zealous passion for God, inspiring them to play their part in making Christ’s love known among the tribes and nations. The word "Nurmay" comes from the Swahili phrase "Nuru kwa makabila yote" - "Light for all tribes."

Nurmay Missions Foundation was founded by Abel and Christa Muanica, who share a deep passion for reaching the nations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Together, they bring more than 35 years of collective cross-cultural missions experience.
Abel is a pastor, evangelist, and missionary. He completed Bible school along with two cross-cultural missions training programs and served for many years as a missionary in his home country of Mozambique before relocating to Kenya in 2006. His heart is to raise up and equip African missionaries to take the Gospel to the unreached.
Christa holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL) and a Theology Diploma from Christ for the Nations Institute (Dallas, TX). She also completed the School of Frontier Missions and has over 25 years of experience working with and ministering to children. Christa has served full-time as a missionary in Africa since 2004.
Together, Abel and Christa lead Nurmay with a shared vision—to make Christ’s love known among the tribes and nations.
From our humble beginnings with just a few volunteers and a vision from God, Nurmay now employs more than 50 people from our local community, making it one of the most stabilizing employers in the village. Our staff are the hands and feet of Jesus as we strive to reach the people we serve.

Lucy brings many years of experience on the mission field. Before joining Nurmay Missions full time in 2016, she made regular trips across Kenya, including several visits to Gotani to support events for children. Her God given gift for caring for children made her a natural fit for our Children’s Ministry Coordinator role.
Lucy coordinates and teaches Bible lessons for NCA and leads the Saturday kids Bible Club. She also serves in the NCA office, supports hospitality for visiting guests, and faithfully steps into many other needs across the ministry.

Miriam has served as the head teacher of Nurmay Christian Academy since January 2020. She is a certified teacher and has completed a leadership diploma. She is also continuing her studies through a counselling course.
Along with her leadership in the classroom, Miriam is a gifted singer who blesses the Nurmay team during Saturday services and other ministry events.

Fanuel began serving at Nurmay Christian Academy in January 2018 and has grown into the role of deputy head teacher through dedication and strong leadership.

Emmanuel joined Nurmay Christian Academy in January 2018 with a certificate in Early Childhood Education. Since then he has continued his studies and now holds an ECE degree. His natural leadership and strong work ethic quickly became evident, and in 2023 he was promoted to deputy of the early childhood section.
Emmanuel is from Gotani and is the father of two boys and two girls.

A native of Gotani, Mourine has served as head cook since the day NCA first opened its doors in 2016. Her practical interview took place the year before, when she cooked for a pastors conference in 2015. The meal was delicious and ready on time, and she was hired on the spot.
Mourine brings joy and steadiness to the kitchen. She laughs and shares with her co-workers while ensuring every task is completed with care. Her team faithfully provides daily meals for NCA students and staff and also supports food service for all Nurmay Missions events.

Eliud joined Nurmay Missions in July 2017. He first served on the general maintenance crew and was later promoted to campus foreman. He now oversees the General Services Unit, fondly known as GSU.
GSU plays a vital role in keeping the Gotani campus running well. The team handles plumbing, grass cutting, carpentry projects, and a wide range of maintenance and repairs. Under Eliud’s leadership, the work is done with reliability and care.
Eliud and his wife have five children and one grandson.
